Oklahoma produces another talented artist, to the music industry, in 19 year old Monique Gonzales. Born Marcy Monique Gonzales this artist's strong musical background accentuated her love of music at an early age winning numerous vocal awards throughout her junior and high school years. Her diversity allows her to move from soft, heart-felt, melodic songs to rich, upbeat songs effortlessly.
In 1998, rights were obtained for Monique to record her rendition of Billy Joel's 1980 hit "Matter of Trust". It is the first single release from her forthcoming album "Out of Nowhere". After hearing a test recording of the rendition, Mr. Joel's office remarked they "enjoyed it tremendously".
The album will feature several original songs written by Oklahoma songwriter, Dale Boaz, William Mitchell, Jeremy Castle and Roy Gonzales, together with two other popular tunes, "You Move Me" by Gordon Kennedy and Pierce Pettis and "Do I Have to Say the Words" by singer/songwriter Bryan Adams. The album will also include "Together Forever" written by Texas songwriter Joe Gonzalez. "Momma" slated as the next single release in March will be in English and Spanish with possible distribution to Spanish speaking countries in addition to U.S. release. The message in this song is delivered with the feeling that comes from her Spanish heritage.
Though a fledgling artist, Monique is determined to make her mark in the industry. We would like to hear from you. Monique maybe contacted through Triple Tower Records at email@example.com or at her fan club, c/o Rhonda Beams, 351 N. Air Depot, Suite J, Midwest City, OK 73110.
Update: "Matter of Trust" can be heard on the DJ Paulie Show on WSAM radio out of Hartford, CT broadcasting to over 400 radio stations in the USA, Canada and the internet at WSAM.edu. The album will soon be out and will be showcased at the Blanchard May Daze Arts and Crafts Show, see Show schedule for date and time. The band featured with Monique will be "Those Guys" of Oklahoma City, who are the same band on the Album. We wish to extend invitations to IUMA members to the show and let us know who you are.
Update 2000: "Out of Nowhere" Monique's long awaited debut album is set for release in early August. There has been one change to the song lineup on the album. "Do I Have to Say the Words" by Brian Adams, was replaced by a vocal and guitar rendition of "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg. This was done after Monique recieved many comments from the concert goers hoping the song was on the album. We are certain many of you will enjoy this rendition, which shows Monique's vocal richness and quality. The album will be available here on IUMA. If your local radio station doesn't have the album please let us know and we will send a promo copy to them. A long awaited dream has begun and we here at Triple Tower and Monique thank you for your support. We will keep you advised on future concert appearances. Keep checking the Show schedule.
